Frame-A-Face utilizes computer vision to isolate the human figure from the background. This allows for more precise and accurate positioning of the portrait in the cropped photo.
While background separation works almost flawlessly, issues with accurate centering may arise in cases where the person’s head is tilted at an extreme angle or is obscured by objects. For example, an athlete holding a ball in front of or above their head. Additionally, the Extra Alignment features are not applicable to photos with multiple individuals.
By default, the horizontal center point of the image is located between the person’s eyes. If the person turns their head and looks aside, both eyes can be visually off-center. In this situation, you may use the geometrical center of the head.
If you are cropping the whole figure and want it to be in the middle of the photo, you may select center by body position. This will center even figures that are turned or standing in asymmetrical poses.
Another useful option is “Find Head Top over Background.” This ensures that the tops of all heads in a series of photos will be at the same level. It is particularly helpful for people with high hairdos.
